Meet The Team

Hi I’m Kara and I am passionate about body movement – and in particular, Pilates. I fell in love with movement, and the incredible lengths to which our bodies can go, long before I began my life as a pilates teacher.

As a small child I started ballet at The Thompson School of Ballet and at seven I began gymnastics, ultimately competing at National Level. Following a sports injury I eventually found my way to Body Control Pilates, reaffirming my love of movement and the astonishing complexities and abilities of the human body.

I have studied Pilates widely and intensively under a variety of highly-skilled specialists. I am especially interested in Hypermobility, Pelvic Health, Pilates in Pregnancy and Pilates in Older Age. I am trained in the following specialities:

Having trained in classical ballet from a young age and going on to study a Masters in Dance Science, I have always been interested in movement and the contribution of movement to physical and mental well-being. Having worked with dancers whilst living in London, and understanding their need for supplementary training I found myself becoming more and more interested in the benefits of Pilates.

I decided to complete my Pilates instructor training and became increasingly passionate about the base of well-being that Pilates can provide for all individuals, this has now encouraged me to pursue Pilates teaching in my return to the North East. Whilst I ultimately want to work with dancers to help them achieve their performance potential and reduce injury risk, I am also a strong believer in the power of Pilates for every body, and am very much looking forward to working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds to develop the joy of movement together.
